When looking back, I realize all the good things in my life are a result of the changes that have occurred in my past. Whether it was a change that I decided on my own or if it was a door that was surprisingly slammed shut, it was exactly what was needed. And the timing was perfect whether I understood or not. Embracing those changes has led me to where I am today, and I can say that I am thankful for those pivotal moments.

Embrace Change

Let’s face it, embracing change is not always fun. Naturally, we all prefer our comfort zones and our routines – it is a constant, it is safe, and there is no pressure, right?…we are comfortable! But something comes flying our way straight from the right field to knock us out of that comfort. Change happens. It’s called life.

When that change happens, we may want to run the other direction, dig our heels in the ground and fight it. We may even hop on the pity party train. After all, we are human. The mixed emotions of sadness, hurt, anger, pain, worry, wonder and then the “why me?” may kick in for a few minutes. However, we just can’t let it take us down, or worse yet, keep us down. I truly believe that once the change is embraced, it just may be for the better. All for a bigger and greater plan!

Over the years, my career path has changed, jobs have come and gone, friendships have drifted apart and new friendships have been made, massive life shifts have occurred and all for a purpose. All for a reason. All for a better me.

Because of change, I have grown in ways that I have never imagined.

I was forced to adapt in ways that have taught me to be more flexible. By embracing the change and meeting it head-on with excitement, I have learned to not be so set in my ways.

I have become more kind and compassionate to others. I am more understanding of what others might be going through. It’s like I get it…that we all have our own stories, journeys, and paths we are on.

My values and beliefs have been challenged and my faith has become stronger than ever. It has revealed my strengths, showed me that I am stronger and fiercer than I have even believed…that may not have been revealed if a change did not take place.

The normal day to day routine may shift yet it challenges me not to settle for mediocrity, to stay in a rut, or become fixated on my problems. Embracing change allows my mind, my body and my dreams to stay active and alive! Change allows me to thrive.

And the best part of embracing change?

The opportunities it creates! The opportunity to become the best version of myself. It is like the snowball effect. They keep coming and coming and it provides more choices and freedom than I ever dreamed possible. Embracing change has led me to create a more fulfilling and authentic life. I have found deeper connections and a life of true purpose.

Doors shut for a reason. And change is always going to be constant. Embrace it. Invite it in. Bring it on. What change in your life can you embrace and shift perspective? I can bet it is giving you the opportunity for you to discover the best you!
