We are that family who is always late – and it’s ok.

C’mon kids. We gotta get rolling! Our family is running behind. Again.

Yep, I am that mom. Rob is that dad. My kids are those kids. And we are that family.

Almost game time.

Growing up, I remember the friend who was always late for practice and was always the last to be picked up. As a kid, I was thinking why is she never on time? How can she always be late? Was she not responsible? Did she forget? How hard can it be? I always felt sorry for her. Being in junior high, how embarrassing it must have been to be the straggler and to be late once again.

The vision of her mom pulling around the corner as fast as her van can go, her hair pulled back in a pony tail, the door flying open and kids jumping out sprinting into the school still remains with me today. And oh how I totally get it now. Laughing, I realize I am that mom!

Here it is a Saturday morning when we have to be in 5 different places at once.

Track meets, basketball games, baseball practices, fundraisers, and I am sure somewhere else that we are just forgetting about fills our day. Pulling in 5 minutes before game time start, kicking kids out of the car, tying shoe laces, pulling back hair, and sprinting into the gym is the norm. A norm we truly love and are embracing! Somehow we make it all work with 5 kids.

We make it work even though we are pulled in every direction, when we sometimes forget to pick kids up, and even if we have to miss some things. We make it work because we have our village. As the old saying goes, it truly does take a village and a team to raise a family. We thank you! Find yours!

So if you are whipping around corners and your kids are sprinting into gym doors wearing shorts in the winter…I see you! You are not alone!
